WHEN they met on the internet in December two years ago, he was almost 17 and she had just turned 10.

After three months of calls, SMSes, one date and a Valentine's poem that made her 'feel love', they became an item.

Eight months later in November 2007, their relationship turned sexual. The young lovers engaged in sex on three other occasions before they were found out last January.

The girl's mother had noticed a change in her daughter's behaviour, and reported to the police.

On Thursay, the teen Xia Yun, now 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of carnal connection.

Two similar charges were taken into consideration.

The court heard that the girl had met Xia on a multi-player online gaming site AuditionSea sometime in December 2006.

They exchanged handphone numbers and kept in constant contact via SMSes and calls. Then on Valentine's Day in 2007, they met for the first time.

As Xia, is still under 21, Judge Soh Tze Bian called for a pre-sentence report to find if he was eligible for probation. This will be decided next month.

If Xia is not granted probation, he faces jail of up to five years and a fine of up to $10,000 on each charge.

Why not hang out with other 14to16year olds instead?

And wait, why is a 10year old holding onto a phone? Back then i only had my first phone at primary 6(12years old), and i barely use it for meaningful purposes.

can you imagine a 16year old holding hands with a 13year old? Yup it seems pretty common.

it gets worse when the guy starts paying and buying things for that 13-14year old girl.

the problem with people is that they don't know that puppylove doesn't last long, and much time is wasted while doing so. and effort too.

i would say that life changes very and extremely fast for us 12 to 16year olds, we develope through the mass media nowadays, especially with the internet, we get loads and loads of information all around the world in an instant, we get access to touch the contents of the adult world way earlier. and yes, the first time i saw porn was with my whole class back in primary 5's computer class. Ha, of course i'm clean now that i'm mature =P

and don't forget about communication, MSN, SMS, whatever, I bet most adults don't know what is it. Even my mum doesn't know what's MSN.

I want to say it because i don't want everyone to think that it's only because of sex ed. but really, it's what we're exposed to.

Do you think that discipline is the key? No i don't.

In fact it seemed to have created a reversed psycological effect, it's like unless someone tells me to stop, i won't.

Unless someone tells me to study, i won't.
If you tell me not to smoke, I will.
Unless you tell me to keep quiet, i won't.

I have one very simple solution.

Lock your child since young in his/her room, give them homework, don't let them socialise, don't let them be exposed to the internet or anything, not even TV.

Then i believe your kid won't do anything wrong.

But no of course, that is child abuse =) your child will grow up to be anti-social.

They're 15, and it makes this whole thing illegal, do you think that boy's/men should always be charged for having sex with girls under 16 as Statutory rape?
