Yifon Mushrooms in a bottle!

Screen shot 2010-11-25 at PM 11.45.53

So recently these range of Yifon 's bottled mushrooms were launched and I've received an exclusive invite from Daen of Vibes Communications to taste it all, during my usual days and times.

01 YIFON Bottled Mushrooms Group Shot

Usually I'm seated in front of either my Macbook or iMac, Doing mostly work, audio recordings, video editing. (Sorry, I really have no idea how to play DOTA, I do real work on a computer, not games.)

Usually I keep a bottle of pickles to snack on.....
Yifon Mushroom

And sometimes I help myself to some fried snacks while doing work, But hey, I'm really sick and tired of the same old snacks I eat, ALL THE TIME.
Yifon Mushroom

Time for change, Being a keyboard warrior, I must prepare myself for long hours seated by the computer, Food is essential for any warriors.

So I chose Yifon's Bailing mushrooms first, particularly because it's considered "Vegan abalone", because it's taste and texture is simply really close to a real abalone.
Yifon Mushroom

Delicious! And it wasn't salty or anything, the gravy that came with the bottle taste pretty much like vegan oyster sauce, Just in case you don't know, I'm almost as good as a vegetarian already, I hardly eat meat nowadays.
Yifon Mushroom

Having told my mum about this Yifon Bailing mushroom, and how the gravy tasted like oyster sauce, she decided to do a little experiment, and prepared to cook up a vegetarian dish for me.

Some veggies

Some tofu

LOOKS A LOT LIKE SOME CHOPPED UP ABALONE RIGHT?

Frying the tofu, to give the tofu some crunchy skin.

She simply stir-fried the veggies and added nothing else but the gravy that came with the bottled mushrooms!

Look at how awesome a dish it is, rice went really well with the gravy from the bottle.

Again, for a second dish, some carrot noodles.
Yifon Mushroom

Boiled the noodles with some veggies and prawns, drained the water, added the Teatree bottled mushroom.

And not forgetting the gravy along with the noodles.
Yifon Mushroom

Simple but delicious dishes, made possible with mum's help, and with these Yifon mushrooms, Which by the way, contains no preservatives, artificial colorings or trans-fats, in fact, it is damn low in fat, making it a healthier alternative to meat.

And so far all 7 bottles of mushroom which I've tasted, it doesn't taste salty at all, unlike the pickles....

Yifon is a brand under the Yithong company(Private Limited), Click here to visit their homepage and learn about their other products/brands, Before I close, I had been consuming their product since young, and had never been disappointed.

Yifon bottled mushrooms are now sold in all major supermarkets, at less than $2 per bottle. And was also mentioned in Singapore's Today papers a few weeks ago(Click to read)!

N.E.Mation workshop

A few weeks ago I was invited by 24Seven to a N.E.Mation workshop conducted to a few bloggers, oh man, that reminded me, I haven't been blogging at all.

A super short description about what N.E.Mation is. N.E. stands for National Education.

N.E.mation! is a competition for youths to express their notions on Total Defence through animation.

I partnered with Geck Geck in this workshop! Ahahaha, not everyday a guy gets to hang around a model ok!

Animaker seems to be the easiest and most dummy-proof animation software out there, I didn't need any guides to get started! This is what me and Geck Geck came up with.

Unfortunately it isn't available for Macs(yet?) , So I animated myself with Photobooth instead. I really really really hope for a Mac version release soon.

Animating has got to be one of the more tiresome projects one can do, we've spent like almost 20mins, moving every parts bit by bit for different frame sequences.

Youths rounded up at Downtown East:Chia Feng Ji's account

Read about the news report here, it was on the papers as well.

With the recent fatal stabbing case that led to the death of Darren Ng Wei Jie, I find it completely sane to have more screenings of youths around.

A few quotes I find really weird.

"Feng Ji said he was alone at the Downtown East arcade, a place he frequents" - Alone hanging out at Downtown East arcade frequently?

"Then they headed to a stretch of road in Geylang, where Feng Ji would often go to check out mobile phones." At Geylang only to check out mobile phones only?

"Feng Ji, who has a tattoo of a crucifix on his left forearm" 17 and already having a tattoo?

"They first went to a billiard room at Republic Plaza, near their home in Marine Parade." Ok maybe nothing much wrong, I'll explain more below.

Frankly speaking I don't, and will not believe in Feng Ji's report of what happened, I believe the story goes way deeper, it seems to me that in the report, he is hiding a lot of things.

About having the parents not contacted, I don't believe at all that the police would make such a mistake, having worked on the frontline of customer service for over 15months, I had met almost all kinds of people you can or not think of.

there are a handful of people who would refuse to produce any identification, phone numbers, or even an alias for registrations, you may find it weird, but it's true.

Since it is only a one-sided story, I have my job experiences to say that Feng Ji had possibly refused to provide any contact number of his mum/dad to the police, and hence no contact was made to the parents.

I didn't store contacts of my parents in my mobile phone not till last few weeks ago, another possibility for me to believe that the police wasn't able to contact Feng Ji's parents despite holding on to his handphone.

And talking about billiard places, have you guys checked out some local billiard halls? Not that there's anything wrong with the game, but it's whether who is hanging out at the places.

A particular one which I've been to a few times, has lots of young ah bengs and ah lians hanging out always, and usually at that place's toilet, there's always a few people, 13 to 16years olds, smoking in it, Ignoring them was what went on my mind.(Because I wouldn't want to leave the place beaten up.)

About Geylang, only to check out mobile phones there? I really doubt so, even Wikipedia says it's a red light district, there are better places elsewhere to check out mobile phones, why bother travelling all the way from Marine Parade to Geylang just to check out mobile phones.

Think people, think and use our nature given common sense.

Why did only Feng Ji approached reporters about having police not contacting parents?
What about the others, such as the lifeguard and the movie-goer?

I don't believe the screening of Chia Feng Ji is this simple, I have absolute doubt in the report, from my humble opinion, he seems to be hiding more.

Chia Feng Ji should had requested to remind anonymous, again, that would make the report even more ridiculous, maybe that's why this is the only lead I can find online, a super-private facebook account.
Screen shot 2010-11-14 at PM 09.55.29

Again, Kudos to the local police force for working hard lately, I have friends whom told me they got screened, and I think it's a very good thing to do to protect the community. Keep it up.

All About Eve bar

Being a regular drinker, It wasn't until recently that I found another bar to settle down for drinks.

I liked this Mr Punch Winebar as well, lots of my primary school mates hang out there.

Now I'm gonna introduce the bar I frequent mostly now, and probably the only one which I revisit regularly.

DSC04784

Whenever I visit a bar, I'm always looking for....a few kinda things.

  1. Human-touch-Bars that have no bartenders to chat a lil with is BORING.
  2. The sociable drinkers-Having a drink and making new friends. I like it when the whole crowd is like this!
  3. The honest nett prices- I really really really hate prices that are before taxes and service charge.

Mint and Desmond performs there every monday night from 9:30pm onwards. What most bars lack is an acoustic band's music.

I'm there pretty much a few times a month, mostly mondays and the weekends, You can come and meet me in person! Be sure to message me thru my twitter and find out when I'm going.

All About Eve is a karaoke bar, mostly mandarin, cantonese and english songs, Oh yeah, Have I mentioned that Eugene just turned 18 lately and had been going out drinking with me? Yeah, I'm a bad influence! HA!

Megamind(2010) Movie Review

Movie preview invite courtesy of Omy.sg and Cathay Singapore.

So it was the Halloween period, and we all wore costumes for this movie screening!
Megamind movie

SUPER MARIO!
Megamind movie

Megamind Trailer

Storyline

After super-villain Megamind (Ferrell) kills his good-guy nemesis, Metro Man (Pitt), he becomes bored since there is no one left to fight. He creates a new foe, Titan (Hill), who, instead of using his powers for good, sets out to destroy the world, positioning Megamind to save the day for the first time in his life.

So far, I must say, this movie wasn't what I expected, I was expecting it to be like, Hero defeats Villain and the whole movie ends.

Remember The Incredibles? Megamind has got pretty much the same standard as the former.

The number of twist and turns in the plots drives me engrossed into the movie, this isn't your typical Hero-fights-villain movie.

The screenplay and gadgets seems very original, filled with jokes and humor, though the whole film reminds me of Joker from Batman.

Bring your kids out to watch Megamind! Movie starts screening from November 4 2010 in Singapore!

Some good laughs with kids/friends, 3/5 Stars

One thing keeps me and others wondering, Where's the rest of the pack of wolves still out there?

Screen shot 2010-11-03 at PM 03.48.37

In my humble opinion, a staring game, is really something lame.
Chasing and killing someone over a stare? Even lamer.
Getting arrested for killing someone over a stare, and getting your ass in prison pending for death penalty? That's the lamest news I've ever heard.

Just what form of heroism is shown here? At what cost?

You guys are like 18years old and older already, You should know better about killing and staring, Not that I want to lecture you, But there's really better things to do than to hang around Downtown East staring at strangers.

And so what if you get stared at? Why not just look away or smile back? eh, actually smiling back might make you look like you're "Ahm Chio-ing" back at them, So, look away, pretend you saw nothing.

Next time you see a guy running, screaming and hitting into a glass panel, Please help ok?

But don't be a
