NS man Maid Carrying Backpack

Lately in national news, a NSmen(National service army boy), was seen SMSing away while a woman carries his army issued backpack for him. Click here for the news article

(Via:EDMW)
maidarmy

So the army launched an investigation to find out who it is,
Let me help you, sir.

I've identified the location on which the photo was taken, and with it, I've made a few conclusions. The place is near Tanah Merah MRT.
Screen shot 2011-03-29 at PM 01.46.20

I understand that the lamp posts seems to be different, but take a look at the buildings, It's all the same. Google maps is showing street view photos from years ago. The lamps were probably changed during this period of time. (NSmen photo from Straits Times)
Screen shot 2011-03-29 at PM 01.45.39

And nearby the landed-property residences area, is none other than Bedok camp.
Screen shot 2011-03-29 at PM 01.47.34

And from my knowledge, the only bus from Bedok Camp's nearby bus terminal that goes to Tanah Merah MRT, is SBS bus service number 45, from that bus stop, it leads to this pavement as seen in the photo.

Maybe he belongs to Bedok camp? Very likely.
Maybe he was just too lazy to walk back home from Bedok camp? Very likely too.

Here's a pictured illustration of why I think he's from Bedok Camp.
Screen shot 2011-03-29 at PM 02.06.44

It's only a matter of time before he gets caught.

Blood Donation with 501st Legion.

Their faces reviewed! Normally I don't recognise them, they are always in their Stormtrooper costume. The people from 501st Legion.

P1010593

Anyways, plugging in for Health Science Authority(HSA) again, because I just love to donate blood, and I only get to do this every 12weeks.

Blood donation is painless, the only pain you'll feel is when the nurse injects anesthetics, only last like 3seconds, and then no pain, no post-donation pain as well throughout my experiences.

P1010600

And after you donate, enjoy a free meal, FREE MEAL, yes, free lunch.
P1010601

I'm actually O+, maybe that's why I'm plus-sized. Meh.

Why we need more donors.

Your blood donation could help save the life of an accident victim, a patient with severe anaemia, a person undergoing major surgery or even a newborn baby.

The platelets found in blood are used to treat leukaemia patients. A single patient often needs platelets from 10 or more donors, all within a short period of time. Add to that the short 5-day lifespan of donated platelets, and you can understand why there is a constant need for platelet donors.
Source: HSA

The whole process is pretty smooth, and always be sure to check out blood stocks here before you head down, You might get rejected if there's too much of your type, Usually if they need your blood urgently, they'll SMS you(For repeat donors).

To find out places to donate, Please check the HSA's website.

Oh yeah, I've also found out through Gordon, that there's actually a reward system in place, if I'm not wrong, it changes from time to time, for now, from what I've received and know...

If it's your 3rd time donating, You get a free T-shirt.
If it's your 5th time donating, You get a friggin awesome medal(Which Gordon received)
If you donate on your birthday, You get a free awesome cake! And a magnetic birthday card!

My next cycle would be my 5th time donating ever since I've turned 18, Can't wait to show off my medal!

My debute acting role in local film.

My beautiful director, yes, she is gorgeous but super shy(I wonder why), I know back view looks like crap, but she is pretty ok!

I shall name her Ah Kai, for now ;)
DSC06404

She got me to act in her film.

I had a peak at the rough edits, and man.....I look awesome! =D (Oh geeeezzz Self-praise.)
It's still post-productions state, I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait!!!! I'm also very anxious to see how my poster looks like!

Anyways, the short film is entitled "F.M.L" or in other words, Fachai Meets Lily.

A 29year old guy searching for ways desperately to lose his virginity before he turns 30, Will he succeed? And who is this Lily as mentioned in the title?

I won't be able to upload the film to any sites(youtube, vimeo) due to certain regulations. But anyways, I'm hoping to be able to host some of you readers for a private screening.(It'll be at some theaters, such as The Substation, Or maybe even my place! But no confirmed info yet.)

If you wish to join me in a private screening when it's confirmed, please do email me directly at yongwei92(at)gmail.com with the subject title "I want to see FML". And I will keep you updated when the film is ready for showcase.

And due to the sexual contents of this film(yes....somewhat soft porn ok....) Only readers above the age of 18 should contact me, Unless you think by then you will turn 18 lah! =D

Stylemyself - Fashion Site review

Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.40.59

Stylemyself is a fashion trends website dedicated to the latest fashion products gathered across Singapore.

Product focused, Stylemyself provides shoppers with a fun and visually attractive retail experience. By clicking on the fashion products of their choice, shoppers are directed to a wide variety of local physical and online retailers.

And so I went exploring around the site....Pretty neatly designed, easy to browse around.
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 01.35.08

Oh hey, Bossini listed their shop there too, now choosing presents for people seems easier.
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.03.14

Shops like New Look as well, Though I'm wearing large sizes for fat people, at least I share good things to all you skinny people!
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.35.30

if you click on the tab on the right side of the page....
Screen shot 2011-03-21 at PM 11.58.25

Over 400 blog shops listed there as well, girls, now it's easier for you to shop online.
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 01.36.11

ahah! Sexy lingerie! Husbands who shop online, please help yourselves, and help boost our nation's low-birth rate!
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.04.55

MMMmmmmmm.......married men in Singapore should start browsing in Stylemyself.
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.04.47

Being a guy, of course, must have a girl side of a review right? So I've asked one of my regular female readers what she thought of the site, Cai Jia said "Lots of nice clothes, discounts, and lots of girls' clothes blog shop! and got beauty products also! "

And also, setting up a store is getting easier, I made mine in less than a few minutes. you can visit my store here, I'll be listing up some merchandises to sell probably in the next few months as I prepare.
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.01.36

Another fantastic blogshop that sells men's clothes, Don't have my size though, but I'm sure most of you readers are skinny, so yeah. Check out the Urban Loft here.
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at AM 02.39.57

Though the site seems fresh, I say from my personal opinion, it's a good site as well, allowing blogshops to advertise there, making it easier for online shoppers to find online stores to buy products from.

I believe Stylemyself has potential, instead of having blogshops to constantly spam in bloggers' tag boards, getting them to set up properly together has finally been made possible.

Till this date there has already been more than 3600 fans on their Facebook page, not bad huh? Also got iOS app for download to browse through.

But nonetheless , have a visit through yourself, maybe you could find some nice gifts to give to your loved ones or friends!

Singapore Dance Delight vol.02 Finals - Team Elite

(video)

One of the dance crews I've noted, was Team Elite(Click for their Facebook page), Their had starred in Dance films, and even been featured on Philippines' National TV, GMA .

This year they participated in our very own, Singapore Dance Delight Vol.02, Where the champion dance crew gets to represent Singapore in Osaka, Japan, for the Japan Dance Delight Vol.18.

Unfortunately they didn't came in top, But hey, they did a darn good job, I find them really good and outstanding.

183773_189055514463435_147835008585486_410018_3050152_n

In a short casual email interview I had with them.

We are a dance delight because. well we don't actually dance to impress. we INSPIRE. that's what's delightful about us. you can genuinely feel who we are whenever we perform.
we move not because we can, we move because we want you guys to move with us.. Feel the Heat,Dance to the Beat this is... Team Elite ;)

Some facts about the team.

  • Practices were only on every sunday, As it's the only common time everyone is free.
  • Total 3 Choreographers.
  • 2 member's from the group have already competed at World Hip Hop 2008 & 2010, they are also from another group LEGIT STATUS (Philippine rep for Hip Hop International)
  • we all come from different groups & have different style's. but we are individually ELITE in what we do
  • They were only in Singapore from 23rd till 27th, and came back on the 10th of March, only 2days before the finals.

From what I know, they have even extended their stay till this coming friday(18th March) in Singapore, And some of the crew made use of the time to join O School's dance classes.

Their passion for dance is astounding. I wish Team Elite all the best!

My cousin's unexpected epic adventure due to Japan Earthquake

This is really funny, though kinda tragic, but putting in my cousin, Shanjae's shoes, I find it rather amusing.

Ah yes, quite a number of you didn't think she's my real cousin, erm...Yes, we're blood cousins! She very cute right? haha.

She left for Japan yesterday(11th March 2011) morning, an 8am flight and was bound for Narita Airport, Tokyo, Japan,

Before she could land, an Earthquake measuring 8.8 on the rector scale struck Sendai, Japan, sending massive waves towards Tokyo as well, hence, all the airports were closed. Ok cousin Shanjae.....Very lucky so far, at least you didn't land in Tokyo before the earthquake struck!

Screen shot 2011-03-12 at AM 02.57.08

So at 3:34pm(Singapore, Hong Kong time), she landed safely in Komaki International Airport, Nagoya, Japan, A great relief for our relatives and friends.

Thanks to Twitter, I can know how much she is going through! Stuck in the plane for hours!
Screen shot 2011-03-12 at AM 03.07.47

And finally at 7pm, The airport was getting crowded, and for some reasons, her plane has to transit to Seoul, Korea.

Screen shot 2011-03-12 at AM 03.08.19

According to her parents, calls couldn't be reached, no surprise, everybody around the world was probably frantically calling loved ones in/on the way to Tokyo, Japan. Even the news were reporting that there was no phone call networks available, but mobile internet connection was still available.

Now an epic adventure awaits, According to her Facebook, her flight had a lot of Americans on it, and the flight was sent to Seoul so the Americans could transit back to the States. Who knows, maybe in hours time, My cousin would end up somewhere in America as well!

Man.....I just wish they've put her into a nice hotel, Who would want to sleep in an airport! I wonder how long it would take for airports in Tokyo to recover from the damage.

Lucky, or Unlucky, Who knew an earthquake would strike while she was on the way to Japan, I'll probably keep updating her status here! Stay tuned!

*First update* - 12 March 2011, 12:40pm

Japan release radioactive steam into air.

215 000 People in shelters after Japan quake

This is scary, Radioactive steam, Please not another Chernobyl accident...especially if it's a place where the monsoon wind starts from!

Of course, I think it's better if Shanjae comes back to Singapore now, it's so messy around Tokyo right now, really a big mess. You can check out more photos of the aftermath here.

9:37am, She is crying away looking at the news......
10:52am, She went to Incheon airport to check for flights back to Singapore.
Screen shot 2011-03-12 at PM 12.53.22

Come back, come back, come back for now till Japan settles the Nuclear plant issues, we wouldn't want you to get radioactive!

*Update* 12 March 2011 2:54pm

Can you imagine if you were in one of these houses?

Can you imagine if your flight just landed and this happened?

Thank goodness you are on your way back, Actually I was kinda hoping for exciting tweets like.

"Oh no, my flight with lots of Americans on is on the way to the states now =( "
"Now Seoul airport also crowded, Going to transit to Hong Kong airport now"

But anyways, You are coming back! yay.

Singapore food trail at Singapore flyer

Last week, a few of us were invited down for lunch at the Singapore flyer, for the launch of Singapore Food Trail.

With awesome bloggers Mint Leong, Aussie Pete, Me(YongWei) and Cherie.(photo by Aussie Pete)
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at PM 11.44.12

The Singapore Food Trail at the Singapore flyer, is basically a recreation of how hawker food was served in the 1960s, However, after the millennium, everything seemed to have faded away. I still remember seeing some of such hawkers(push carts, make-shift stores) in the 90s when I was born.
"Those of us who grew up in the 1960s, we have a lot of things to remember as part of our growing memories, we remember hawker food that was savored along push carts, street corners, make-shift stores, and that nostalgia is part of us, it's part of what we grew up with.

I remember when the satay man comes on his motorbike...you make sure he comes to your house! Because if he goes to somebody's house, there will be no more satay! ...So as young kids, we will stand by the streets, making sure that he turns into our part of the street, and that we can actually, pester our parents to buy 5 sticks of satay...one for everyone in the house, plenty of happy memories.

Food brings us back together, physically or emotionally."

-Ms Aw Kah Peng, Chief Executive of Singapore Tourism Board

Anyways, check out this video done by Omy, I was also interviewed! Please excuse my poor mandarin vocabulary! (Uploaded by Aussie Pete)

The antique looking seats and tables, this launch attracted not just Singaporeans, I've met a few that came from overseas, Philippines, Europe, many more I didn't had a chance to interact with!

Overview of the "indoor" area.

There's even a few "make-shift" stores! selling toys, snacks and even.....

KACHANG PUTEH! Seeing a kachang puteh man is one of the rarest sight you can ever find in Singapore these days! The word Kachang-Puteh, basically means roasted nuts in the malay language.

Some display of drinks, in the past, they were all served in bottles, and these bottles were kept by the coffeeshop owners, and brought back to the drinks factory to be recycled. (If you're wondering why I've censored part of the bottle case, it's because due to a contractual term I'm having for this period of time, I'll change it as soon as my contract ends in like 2weeks ;) "
DSC06087

A glass bottle of cola, I wonder where they got it from! You don't see such a thing in Singapore anymore!

I'm not sure how they managed to get supplies, these toys, snacks, used to be everywhere in the 90s when I was still a kid.

Also a lady going around "selling" us candies like how people in the past do it.(Of course given to us for free lah...)
Screen shot 2011-03-04 at PM 11.43.58

I still remember, rushing to the near-by mama-shops near my primary school to grab one of these candies/sweets after school. My favorite being the purple candie and the one with sticks to hold. Some of these candies are really hard to find nowadays.

Some vintage posters.

Speaking of which, these vintage posters were originally painted with real brushes, and once it's done, a film photo of it is taken, and then sent into printing.

And at a recent exhibition I've attended with Mint, I've also learned that, there is just 1 last surviving billboard painter in Singapore.

Which is none other than Mr Neo Chun Teck. Read more about how he was found on SINDIE, I really like his works, he had done many posters for local films over the years, I do hope that someone takes on with his works, painted posters just give a very different feel from photoshopped posters, it feels more alive.
IMG_7379_2

While we were touring, food was served! Cherie can't help but eye on the foods!

Our table was filled with lots of food for everyone!

Goreng Pisang(Fried banana), and some other fried stuff I've never even tried before! one of it was sticky cake inside!

Steam and Roast chicken.

Nasi Lemak, one of the dishes I've introduced to Aussie Pete, apparently he was really new to most of the dishes!

Oyster Omelet.

Hokkien Mee

Satays

Dumplings.

Siew Mai

Delicious!

And how can anyone, ever forget, Grilled stingray with chili paste, we all grew up eating this didn't we all?

Some vendors include Hill Street Tai Wah Pork Noodles, Boon Tat Street Barbeque Seafood, Rong Chen Bak Kut Teh, and Alhambra Padang Satay.

No wonder all the food there are so awesome! Not only that, I had a fun time introducing local hawker food to Pete, I should had recorded down a video of how he pronounced Popiah, he went "pi pia? Po pa, Popi, lopia" over and over! Hey man, It could had been a viral video!

Again, This is a really awesome revamp of Singapore Flyer, without this Singapore Food Trail, the Singapore flyer is just a wheel, Now I have a reason to visit it again soon.

If you are working in the areas near and crave for hawker food, fret not, there is free shutter bus services down on weekdays and free lunch hour parking, Check out more details on that on the official Singapore Food Trail page here.

Oh yes, I really love this photo!
