WP Rally 2011 photos

The rally at Hougang on friday 28th of april 2011

I cycled there, so many people that I had to push my bike all the way, crossing the road was also a problem.

People were driving from around the island just to watch WP(Workers' Party) Rally. Some say the traffic jam started as far as Eunos area, and Potong Pasir.

An estimated of 50k to 100k people attended.

I was somewhere in the middle holding my bike, photo by theyuntian
Workers' Party Rally

It was so crowded people had to stand across the road to watch!

But anyways, now for yesterday's rally, at Serangoon stadium, I couldn't get in, it was ALREADY FULL, So Joyce(from Live Magazine) and I stood at a HDB block opposite just to watch, along with an ang moh(caucasian) next to us.

Every level was packed with people.

The whole stadium, the carpark, was all packed.

These are the crowds that weren't able to get in as well, more and more kept flowing in, I have no idea where they come from, more kept coming to the HDB block where I witnessed the rally.

More and more people.

At every level.

People were so eager to hear what the WP has to say, that they even climbed up a half finished overhead bridge.

Nevertheless, don't forget to drink more water when you attend the rallies, there was a lot of ambulances rushing people off from the rallies these 2 days, probably from heat stroke(yes even though it's held at night, being dehydrated in such a huge and heaty crowd can lead to heat stroke too.)

Launched in Singapore Glacéau's Vitaminwater

Lately, the Coca-cola people gave me this package.
vitaminwater

Some bright colored and attractive bottles of Vitaminwater, Erm, note I finished 2 bottles instantly before realising I haven't taken a photo to blog yet.
vitaminwater

What I really like, is the advertising and taste, but wait, let me talk about their advertising first.
vitaminwater

It feels personal and it's funny, and it's very original, I enjoyed reading every bottle I pick up.
Ignite bottle talks about social media.
Vitaminwater

I just can't stop drinking Vitaminwater, They are just so effing tasty and delicious.
Apologies for being so crude, but "effing delicious" was what ran through my mind the moment I took my first gulp.
vitaminwater

Drinking XXX on the move, like I said, effing delicious, quenches my thirst during hot sunny days.
vitaminwater

It isn't just me who's loving this drink, This is Joel's personal fridge in his room, Vitaminwater convert as well. His room is just as messy as mine.

DOTA players also need their vitamins.

I think my favorites, and the only ones I get off stores,
Ignite, Power-C and XXX, eh wait, actually I prefer Ignite for it's vitamin Bs, keeps me energised and awake the whole day.

Overall, I love it because of the light taste and low sugar content, as well as the different vitamins loaded in different flavors. it's a very guiltless drink, you know it's good for you.

Not forgetting, these bottles, can be easily recycled, using it as an alternative for plain water.

Kudos to Starbucks

On the 25th of February 2011, Right after the Singapore Food Trail opening, I heading to the nearest Starbucks to have a discussion/meeting with Mint.

I'm a fan of Starbucks, Big big fan, I love the Toffee nut, I love their brewed coffee, I love their system. And I enjoy most using the prepaid Starbucks card.

that faithful day at the Marina Square's outlet(got 2 outlets right?), The one next to Prize Stage and Kbox I meant, I wanted to order Toffee nut, but it wasn't available anymore, It was the utmost shock of my day, I was really craving for it, and needed it to stay awake. I was left speechless and couldn't think of anything else to order, So I hummed while swaying my head at the menu.....

the male staff on duty(Sorry I forgot your name), immediately gave me a suggestion "How bout Hazelnut frap?"
I was like "Oh ok, can can can can can!" (Yeah that's how I usually react, I love speaking in funny ways).

However, on the 25th of feb 2011, I was told, and gotten rather annoyed when the card system was down, and it wasn't my first time being told that, So I decided to get a little grumpy like an old man.(You know ;D One of my ways to test staff's reaction)
"alamak wasapa, why everytime I want to use the card cannot use....alamak...."

I don't blame them, because I know that the card is very new(still) , and I never expect it to work half my visits down to Starbucks

So at this point, the other female staff on duty, Syikeen(your name's on the receipt, that's how I remembered! ) decided to make my day by giving me a complimentary voucher for my next visit, ahhhh, talking about customer satisfaction!

Anyways talking about customer service, I don't think "Hi sir, How may I help you" is a nice way to start, it may look good in words, but in real-life, I think it's rather, robotic and fidget, it doesn't feel natural, and to be a happy customer, I like it when it feels natural, comfortable for both me and the staff, greetings like

"Hey what can I get for you?"
"Hey hey what cha like?"
"What's up brother!"
"HAI! Coffee?"

I enjoy visiting Starbucks because this is how they usually greet me, and I feel really comfortable being greeted this way, I hate formal greetings like "good afternoon sir, How can I help you" that scares me away. Usually, in fact most of the time, the Starbucks' staffs are all very fun and interactive people, Very sociable and extrovert people!

I've been a Starbucks drinker for years, and will be for many years to come.

Great food and beer at Overtime bar

About OverTime Bar

Located at 2 venues in Singapore, Dempsey Hill and Holland village, Featuring Stärker Beer, alongside with it's cozy environment and live entertainment for those working overtime.(Get the pun? HA! )

Stärker beer comes in 2 types, Aromatic and Lager, I believe this is the only place where you can enjoy Stärker beer(for all the beer fans out there like me), Aromatic for the starters, because of it's fruity flavors, while Lager for the more hardcore people, like me.

Something unique about that beer is that, it is unfiltered and unpasteurized, and said to give us a smooth, full-bodied, clean and crisp aftertaste.

I was there for the opening a few months ago, Read it here.

I was back again somewhere last month for a food tasting session, I literally gained weight from it, like 2kg that night.

Getting it on with the rest of the bloggers.

Seafood Fried Rice

The Crispy Pork Knuckle , Apologies, Everybody took a bite before I could snap a photo. Pork knuckles are too effing delicious.

Char-Grilled chicken.

Platter

MORE PORK MORE PORK, Fire Pork.

Of course, don't forget about salads.

Overall, food and ambiance are both great, very cozy feel and chairs big enough for plus-size people like me(some bars have stools so small only an anorexic and bulimic person can fit in).

And the prizes very attractive ok, I'll be joining too!

Instead of videos, we bloggers were given just 15mins to think and draw out issues that we think are affecting the environment. THE SUPER GIRL aka Jac and I.
Panasonic bloggers session

Of course, we didn't win in this bloggers contest, DK had the best idea, and I was really amazed on what he could think of and draw in 15minutes.

I really love the new rechargeable batteries Panasonic gave to me. The Evolta series .
DSC06433

Did I mention that the Evolta batterise is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest lasting battery?

I've been using them for my Apple Magic mouse for the past 3 weeks from full charge, and it's only down 9%! Start using rechargeable batteries! Better for the environment!

Doing our little part.

MRT
(Photo: Sabineinsingapore )

Something I wanna talk about, whether if we're on the bus, trains or even taxi queues. It has been always part of my habits/practices.

I personally think we Singaporeans, some, are not conscious about the meaning of "Courtesy". I don't blame them, I blame no one, we all grow up in different environments.

What would you do if there are no more bus seats available, a lady carrying a baby comes in, and no one offers a seat?

That occurred to me yesterday while going out to meet Angie and Fenny for a karaoke session(I was super late, but I think, there's a purpose for everything, and this was the purpose.)

While in the bus, a lady carrying a probably year or 2 old little girl, I say weighing probably 10kg? Came in, that took probably 5seconds from point of entry to walking to the mid-section of the new WAB buses to scan for seats.

I was expecting one of the school students seated in the priority seats to give it up for the lady, unfortunately, no, neither did anyone from the back immediately offered their seats, as disappointed as I was, I can't blame anyone.

Imagine carrying a child weighing 10kg the whole day, and standing in a swaying bus.

I had to do my part, and be an example to everyone, it's a social-responsibility everyone should follow and abide along. Though I was one of the few standing in the swaying and bumpy bus, I just had the urge to do a small part for the community.

Instead of taking a photo from an angle, and then posting it online to shame people for not being courteous, I just did one easy step, really easy.

I waved violently, with a smile, at someone seated closest to the lady carrying her child,
Pointed to her the lady carrying a child, and immediately, the polytechnic-like student holding a laptop stands up, and offers the lady a seat.

What a happy and gracious ending, it isn't difficult.

Let's all do our small parts for the society, make everyone's day better, and make yourself feel better knowing the fact you've done something great! =D

The next time such things occur, don't forget to help.

  • If you see a blind man, Ask if he needs help finding his way.
  • If you see a tired/pregnant/injured person, offer them a seat, or ask kindly for people to give up their seats.
  • If you see some space in the trains, move in, everybody wants to get to their destination as much as you do, even if you are alighting at the next station.

Do your part.
