Heading towards Tekong Paradise

It's 11am, tuesday, 31st July 2012.

I am on a ferry alone to an island called Pulau Tekong to stay for the coming months, or two years, for military training.

I will not have internet access, I will not be able to blog regularly anymore.

I will be undergoing Basic Military Training to become a soldier, imagine how man I will become. I will definitely be having sleepless nights worrying about how clogged up my email inboxes will be.

but anyways, I'm seriously hoping to get into Music and Drama Company while I serve the army, you see.....I can sing, I compose, I can play guitar, I can write songs.

So please! Consider me for Music and Drama Company in the Singapore Armed Forces! That is where I'm sure I'll be most productive!

Crazy, one of my best demos.

牛奶都喝不够 techno mix, I've composed the melody entirely.

And on a side note, I've recently partnered with a few fresh graduates from various institutions in Singapore for a small start-up business selling customized badges, Super Store Singapore, it will really be great if you could lend us some support! All profits will go into our further-education funds.

Before army......

I lost all motivation to do just about anything 2weeks before my enlistment, which is on the 31st July 2012, I just wanted to have fun, to eat whatever I like I can before I get my freedom taken away for 2 years.

Here are some highlights from what I did the past few weeks, I may miss out some meet-ups with me because I couldn't find any photos, pai seh ah.....

#1) I bought a secondhand Xbox 360 Kinect bundle along with a copy of Dance Central 2 on impulse, but no regrets, since my parents can use it as a DVD player for our TV as well, and so much easier to use.
2012-07-22 01.26.15

Not sure if I really can dance.....or Kinect sensor just gives fat people a chance....

Brand new snack : CP Japanese Crispy Gyoza

Sample courtesy of CP Brands Singapore, The new Japanese Crispy Gyoza is a fusion between chicken nuggets and delicious gyozas, a pretty unique new party snack/appetizer for just about any occasions.

2012-07-07 12.23.00

I got real excited upon receiving this sample pack, of course, almost immediately, I started cooking it!

For people like me, who doesn't cook often, do remind yourselves to read the instructions at the back first ok?
2012-07-07 12.22.48

Being the impatient type, I stuck it all into the oven and heated it first before taking out some for deep-drying, leaving the rest to bake.

This way, I'll be able make it extra crispy while being ensured that it's hot internally as well, not merely just heating the outer layers.
2012-07-07 12.25.03

Within minutes, I've prepared myself some delicious Japanese Crispy Gyozas, some baked, some deep dried, my favorite being the deep dried ones.
2012-07-07 12.41.05

A closer look.
2012-07-07 12.41.21

This new delicious party snack is currently available in NTUC Fairprice supermarkets, and will be available in other supermarket chains in Singapore islandwide from mid-august onwards, at a suggested retail price of around $4.60 per pack.

Perfect for any lazy people...just like me.

New Lipton Tea pyramid flavor range

A little while ago, I've reiceved a pleasant surprise from Lipton, one of Singapore's most familiar tea brands, even I grew up drinking tea made by Lipton.

2012-06-28 17.00.20

I'm not too sure if this pyramid box of tea is available for public or press only, but hey, do look out for it in Cold Storage supermarkets in Singapore as well as other major supermarket chains.

2012-06-28 17.08.16

Just a little short introduction on the new flavors by Lipton, there are two new range of flavors, with different flavors and textures to suit your taste buds throughout the days.

From what I know, each pack of tea will be retailed at just s$3.95 at all Cold Storage stores.

Lipton Pyramid Gold Range:

  • Russian Earl Grey
  • Mild Ceylon
  • Solid Assam
  • Asian White

Lipton Pyramid Fruit Range

  • Forest Fruit
  • Blue Fruit
  • Citrus Fruit

2012-06-28 17.08.31

My personal favorite had been the Forest Fruit tea, the aroma is just so strong and sweet smelling, perfect for just about any evenings or afternoons.
2012-06-30 16.22.51

If you would take a close look, the tea bags are pyramid in shape, it's something very unusual for me, I couldn't help but to do a little research online.

An abstract from TeaAndCoffee.net

Tatsuya Hayashida of NASA Corporation says that since pyramid bags have more space inside than the traditional flat bags, it allows room for packers to put what they formerly put in tins, in teabags instead. "When you pack leaf tea in a pyramid bag and put the bag in boiled water, the tea leaf expands and circulates inside the bag, so you can extract very nice flavor from it. Our bag is transparent so it looks attractive to consumers and is better for extraction of tea." The woven mesh filter they use instead of paper has a faster hot water infusion because the size of the openings in the mesh is wider than paper, so that it can extract better taste and flavor. "So there is no need to cut the leaves down into small pieces, and one can enjoy the real taste and flavor of full tea leaves."

Maybe that explains why the new pyramid Lipton teas smell so damn good.

What happened in the office...(Warning: NSFW)

NSFW=Not Safe For Work.

This is definitely not safe for work.....and ok, I gotta admit, this was the first chair I broke through my internship period at two companies, another two chairs were only "damaged" ......let me put it in a nicer way....it's just the wheels that no longer work for the other two.

Have you gotten your blood donor card?

The new donor card, I couldn't find any press releases online, but anyways, The orange/yellow code means you hold a positive blood type, whereas for negative blood types you'll receive a blue card instead.

2012-07-16 11.58.36

At the back, two QR codes that leads you to more information or towards their site to book an appointment. I believe O blood types rarely requires an appointment, it's just always in demand, I have never tried booking an appointment, usually I'll just walk-in.
2012-07-16 11.58.45

The QR code leads to a non-mobile friendly site, but nonetheless, still usable with smartphones these days.
2012-07-16 12.00.15

Just a quick shout-out for Singapore Press Holdings, SPH will be holding it's Red Apple Day event on the 17th July 2012, 12th noon to 5pm at the Auditorium, if it's in your convenience, do head down and support by being a blood donor!

Click here if you'll like to find out more about being a Blood Donor.

And by the way, I'm only 1 more donation away from receiving another medal!
2012-07-16 12.00.57

It isn't as scary as it looks, trained nurses and medical offices will be around to assist.
